Thank God for His guidance that allowed this road show to be smoothly held at 3 cities in West Malaysia – Penang, Sitiawan and Petaling Jaya. A great thank to our mentor Datuk Dr Denison and his wife, Datin Rose who were speakers for the workshops. They had enlightened us on issues such as voluntary simplicity lifestyle and applicable social concern models. In the evening, we had public talk on different social concern related issues. Dr Denison shared with us “Biblical basis for social concerns and social action”, “Practical opportunities for social involvement” and “Christian response to national and public policy”. Interesting message, practical examples and testimonies and clear teaching from the Bible allowed brothers and sisters to understand God’s desire more. The message also encouraged us to be Christ like, show compassion and mercy onto those unlovely, like the salt be a mediator in our community, and be the light of the world to cast out unrighteousness.
Here, we would like to thank our co-organizers (Partners Training Centre, Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary, Si Yuan Theological Centre and Malaysia Bible Seminary) and all friendly co-organizers in every city. May all the glory be unto God.
* If you have missed all the talks in these 3 cities, please don’t miss the upcoming recorded audio-video!Feedback of some participants…
“This is the first time I heard about the practice of simplicity lifestyle. I’m really amazed that in reality we can live so simple and we can bless the needy with what we have saved. Live simple so that others can simply live. I’ve decided to become a good steward of God, manage my material blessing and resources properly.”
“Among the 10 social ministry models applicable in Malaysia, I think I can respond to “Ad-hoc Community Service” by giving help and comfort to the needy. I hope that churches can see the importance of community service and become the light and salt of the community but not bound within the four walls of church…”
“Wow! The history of Sitiawan is really interesting. So glad that I heard the amazing testimonies of previous missionaries resided here. Their lives had influenced the local community and brought many people to Christ. God really blesses the Fuchou people as I believe it’s because they love God. I agree with what Dr Denison shared. During the colonial era, Christian mission, outreached and Church planting works can never be separated from building schools, hospitals and agriculture development programmes. They were not just sharing gospel with their mouth, they also live out the greatness of gospel, care for the needy, contribute to the development of the community and did not isolate themselves from the world.”
“May God give me wisdom, teach me how to be a Malaysian citizen and citizen of God’s kingdom who glorify Him and bless others. I don’t want to be coldblooded animal that is apathetic and indifferent.”
Biblical Challenge
“How can the love of God be in us if we see the poor but do not do anything to assist? (1 John 3: 17-18)” Therefore, we must put into actions what we saw not just merely talk about it.
